Big Bullets, Nomads clash in the offing

A clash of Blantyre giants Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers could be on the cards if the two teams win their Carlsberg Cup quarter-final matches tomorrow.

The steamrolling Bullets take on Azam Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium while the Nomads host Mafco in Balaka. The winners will clash in the semi-finals.

However, Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama played down the prospect of facing their age-old rivals in the semis.

“Let us cross the bridge first. We need to clear the hurdle at hand before we start talking about a potential semi-final clash with Wanderers,” said Msungama.

His Nomads counterpart George Chamangwana was also cautious, saying: “We cannot start talking about lunch before we are done with breakfast.”

Bullets qualified for the quarter-finals after edging Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division side Ndirande Icons 2-1 while the Nomads saw off Chikwawa United’s spirited challenge by the same margin.
